Description

The Google Online Marketing Challenge!

This is a great exercise for undergraduate or graduate students in classes such as advertising, ecommerce, integrated marketing communication, management information systems, marketing or new media technologies. In the previous editions we had more than 35,000 students competing from more than 95 countries.

The goal for students is to create an effective online marketing campaign in Google AdWords.

Please note that you are able to pre-register even if the competition is currently not open.
Competition Details
Step 1:
Professor registers for the Challenge and divides the students into groups of 3-6 members. (Registration will be opening in October 2012.)

Step 2:
The groups recruit a small-to-medium business or NGO, who has a website but doesn’t currently use AdWords or has not used it in the last 6 months.

Divide your students into groups
->Groups recruit a business not using Adwords
->Groups create an Adwords account & campaign for the business
->Over 3 weeks they optimize
->The campaign and submit their reports
->Entries are judged and winners are chosen.

Step 3:
Each group works with the business or NGO to set up an AdWords account (must be in US dollars and with no billing info), registers it in the Student Dashboard and structures an effective online marketing campaign with the free online credit for Google AdWords worth US$200.

Step 4:
During a 3-week competition window, the groups create, optimize and refine their campaigns. In addition to building the campaign, they must upload two competition reports to the Student Dashboard – one before they begin and one after the campaign ends.

Step 5:
Google and a panel of independent academics from all over the world select the winning teams based on the success of their campaign and the quality of their competition reports. Students can compete over any 21 consecutive days between January and June. Remember – professors should allow sufficient class time to cover online marketing and Google AdWords, and time for students to recruit their businesses.

Teams working with an NGO will be considered for the NGO Impact Award.
Global and regional winners are communicated to all participants in July.
